Put on your detective hats! Someone has been murdered (or “selected” if you want to keep this PG) and the criminal is covering it’s trail.
Last Message (@iello_world) is a group “find it” game where one player plays the criminal covering it’s tracks, another player as the victim trying to give clues to all the other players as the detectives.
To start the game the Criminal looks at the scene (a busy image with many characters) and selects one character to be “eliminated”. They point out this character to the victim player. Then the victim has 30 seconds to draw on a whiteboard clues to help the detectives guess the eliminated character. They can draw images or write words as clues.
This whiteboard has a grid splitting it into 9 sections (3×3). After the victim finishes drawing, it is then given to the criminal who erases 5 sections (in the first round, 4 squares in the second round, 3 in the third). The detectives then examine the whiteboard and try to deduce clues from what was not erased
The detectives then make a guess on the scene and point to a character. If they are right, they win. If they are wrong, it continues to another round. Future rounds, the victim takes a new whiteboard and can rewrite/draw erased items, or draw something completely new.
Last Message is an interesting take in the social guessing game genre. The victim plays a big role, trying their best to give good clues and more importantly draw them strategically knowing some will be erased. Maybe draw a word across two sections in hopes that if only one is erased, enough info is there.
I love the idea of this game, however it was very hard. 30 seconds was so short and starting with 5 erased squares is way too much. We had to give way more drawing time and started with 4 erased squares. However after a few plays you can start to pickup on the nuances of how to approach the victim role. It’s not going to be a hit for everyone, but is worth a play.
