Disney’s It’s a Small World Game :: Quick Overview
Publisher : Funko Games
You can’t tell me the song isn’t playing in your head already. It’s going to be there for a while. Sorry. Not sorry. Lol.
This new game from Funko Games is a wonderful ode to the classic Disney ride for children ages 3 and up. It’s a nice pleasant introduction game for kids that’s easy to understand and relaxing.
The game is split into two teams each taking one boat. As the game says, if you have more than two players, share a boat, just like the actual ride! you ultimate goal is to match images on cards to images on the walls in the different rooms. the walls create 4 quadrants and you can match any image in the quadrant you currently reside in.
On your turn you must move your boat one space in the direction of the stream. You then collect a number of cards listed on that spot. Now you can try to match any cards in your hand to the images in the quadrant you are in. If done so correctly, place them in your team score pile. You may also use a rotation card to rotate a room wall, possibly bringing an image into your quadrant for you to score.
If you draw a clock card you turn the clock dial one rotation. The number increases and the game ends when it reaches 6 (night time). You can play until 5 for a shorter game or 7 for a longer game. When the game ends, the team with the most completed cards wins. You can also play as a team in a variant that has you combine your cards and try to achieve a certain number of cards before game end.
This game is super simple and easy to play, making it a perfect intro game for a 3 year old. What stands out is the visuals. The colors and components and the 3D aspect of the walls just makes it so inviting to young (and old) players. Such a simple concept with a fantastic table presence makes this a great intro game for kids.
