ABOUT US
Hi, we are James and Julie, parents of children ages 6, 4, and 1. Our love for board games grew shortly after having our first child (Really it’s because once you have kids you can’t go anywhere unless you have babysitters and have energy!). James discovered that board games these days are much more varied and interesting than the classic scrabble, sorry and monopoly (not that there’s anything wrong with the classics but you can only play them so much). We started by playing Settlers of Catan with friends here and there while the kids slept. As we discovered various types of games and played more of them with friends, the board game nights began to occur regularly and our love for board games grew increasingly fast.
I, James, am a professional wedding photographer. However, my educational background in Neuroscience and Engineering is what drives my love for problem solving and strategy in all sorts of games and logic puzzles. I enjoy games of all types, from light social games to heavy euros. I definitely lean more towards heavy euro worker placements.
I, Julie, am a neurotic mom who worries endlessly about the kids. Professionally I work in finance with a background in Engineering and Business. Before you ask, yes we met in engineering 🙂 Like James, Engineering drives my love for problem solving and strategy. I enjoy games with strategy and many paths to victory (“point salad”) and also some friendly trash talk during games. I don’t have a lot of patience so I cannot sit still if someone is just sitting there endlessly evaluating their options before deciding on their next step (hence the trash talk hehe). You’ll often find me rummaging for snacks or baking something while waiting for others to finish their turn.
